Join us for a calming community breakfast to start your day with good energy in and around you.
Mornings start early in the Bay Area, and many people skip a healthy breakfast. The idea behind this new series is to set aside some time for breakfast, and conversation with the dynamic HanaHaus community.
Each month, we will invite someone from the HanaHaus ecosystem to share what they are working on, and of course, we're also looking forward to learning more about what you are up to.
This is a great chance to get to know the HanaHaus community better and to meet someone new before diving into the busy workday.
Enjoy a healthy breakfast. Have a conversation. Meet someone new.
Avery gravitates toward domains where subjective experience is the focal point: whether that's medical technologies that reduce suffering, subtle technology that makes human interactions richer, coffee shops where conversations fly, poetry, essays, and on and on. He is the Neurotechnology Specialist at Loup Ventures, a research-driven VC firm based in Minneapolis investing in frontier tech companies. Avery's goal at Loup is to support the growth of the Neurotechnology field through an ethics-first approach to investing in Neurotech.
Avery's fascination with the brain began when he coauthored an introductory neuroscience book in high school, and evolved as he explored various aspects of cognitive science/cognitive neuroscience literature in his free time. Avery briefly attended Pomona College, where he studied Computer Science. Originally from Chicago, Avery co-founded Altar, a company applying AR/VR to build Augmented Memory systems, in the Bay Area in 2016. That's also when he got to know HanaHaus and was featured on our People of HanaHaus blog.
If it’s one of the five weekdays, you’ll find Avery at the gym at some point. If it’s one of the seven days of the week, you’ll find him socializing in some capacity. Building and maintaining meaningful relationships is one of the experiences closest to Avery's heart. He is also an avid lover of Sherlock (BBC), cats, piano, and tea, and is slowly working on a novel.
